I am an interdisciplinary artist and educator working primarily with drawings, installations, and performance art. My artwork is conceptually driven, and is focused on themes related to the female body and sexuality. Through my art, I endeavor to challenge prevailing norms, stereotypes, and the choices we routinely make in our daily lives. My intention is to provoke a conversation about how our community, family, and culture impact our choices.

I graduated with a B.F.A. from Maryland Institute College of Art and a M.F.A. from University of Pennsylvania. In 2007, I received a Fulbright Fellowship to research and make artwork regarding gender and human rights issues in the Netherlands. I was born in South Korea, and currently live in Brooklyn, New York.

My collection of drawings, created using ink, gold leaf, gouache, and watercolor, represents a continuous exploration of the complex idea of personal choices and control over one’s own life and body. These artworks are an expression of individual narratives surrounding the human body, touching upon topics such as human trafficking, abortion rights, pro-choice advocacy, pro-life perspectives, miscarriages, and working conditions, all within the context of broader issues related to gender-based discrimination. Through abstract storytelling, I aim to convey these experiences, while never shying away from the inherent tragedies they may encompass, challenging the decisions individuals make concerning their one bodies, and fostering discourse on these crucial issues.

My artwork has been exhibited widely, both domestically and abroad, including at Delaware Center of Contemporary Art; Arti-et-Amicitiae, Amsterdam, The Netherlands; La Mer Gallery, Seoul, Korea; Arario Gallery, New York; Ceres Gallery, New York; Reaves Gallery, New York; The Icebox, Philadelphia; RedLine Gallery, Denver; Edge Gallery, Denver; and the Video Apartment, Docklands, Ireland where I was part of a group exhibition that included Marina Abramovic, Paul McCarthy, and Regina Jose Galindo.
